Shawn Khorrami: Of Counsel

Shawn Khorrami's extensive litigation experience covers a broad range of issues,
including pharmaceutical litigation, environmental law and toxic torts, wage and
hour, consumer class actions and product liability litigation. He has obtained
over $250 million in verdicts and settlements for clients across the country.
Shawn has litigated many class and individual actions against some of the U.S.’s
largest corporations. He has participated in high profile pharmaceutical cases
involving drugs and devices including Vioxx, Celebrex, Bextra, Ortho Evra,
Avandia, Prempro, Paxil, Zyprexa, Kugel Mesh Patch, Fosomax, Thimerosal,
and ReNu. He has served on National Plaintiffs' Steering Committees and has
been appointed lead and liaison counsel in a number of pharmaceutical cases.
He currently represents thousands of individual claimants around the country
alleging personal injuries against many of the world’s largest pharmaceutical
companies.
Shawn is one of the lead lawyers in class cases involving tens of thousands of
individuals and businesses who were victims of Hurricane Katrina in New
Orleans. He represents more than 5,000 individual victims of the hurricane. As
a member of the steering committee, he oversees all aspects of the litigation.
Shawn has handled consumer fraud cases – particularly in the form of class
actions. He has been appointed class counsel and to the plaintiff steering
committee in a number of cases valued in the hundreds of millions of dollars.
Among these are cases against internet giants, Google, and Yahoo.
Shawn also has extensive experience in employment litigation – everything from
discrimination, and wrongful termination, to wage and hour violations both in
individual and class settings. He has been appointed class counsel in numerous
employment class actions involving tens of thousands of class members. He
currently is lead or co-lead counsel in wage and hour class actions in a number
of states from coast to coast. Additionally, he represents thousands of individual
wage and hour claimants in dozens of states.
Shawn has handled numerous environmental toxic cases including cases
involving toxic chemicals such as di(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate (DEHP), mercury,
perchloroethylene, polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB's), DDT, toluene, diesel,
lindane, and lead. Shawn has successfully litigated these cases in State and
Federal Courts against chemical manufacturers, consumer item manufacturers
and distributors, and mining and mineral-extraction interests.
Shawn has represented numerous plaintiffs in civil rights actions. He has
litigated multiple class actions relating to the healthcare system in prisons.
Currently, he represents a class action involving the lack of healthcare for tens of
thousands of prisoners who suffer from Hepatitis C – a potentially fatal disease.
A frequent speaker, Shawn has testified on multiple occasions as an invited
expert before the House of Representatives. He and his cases are regularly
featured in the largest media outlets in the country, including The New York
Times, The Los Angeles Times, and major daily newspapers, national magazine,
and network and network affiliate news stations around the country.
Shawn Khorrami is a member of the American Bar Association, The American
Association for Justice, the Consumer Attorneys of Los Angeles and California,
and the Board of Governors of the Consumer Attorneys of California.
He graduated with honors from Pepperdine University School of Law in 1995,
after earning his undergraduate degrees in mathematics, economics and
computer programming at the University of California at Los Angeles.
Shawn Khorrami founded his Los Angeles firm in February,
1996, just two months after being admitted to practice law. He
has grown the firm from a solo practice to one of the largest
plaintiff-only law firms in California: Khorrami Pollard & Abir.
