"Courage is not
the absence of
fear, but the ability
to rise and face it."

A Trial Lawyer Prepares
He sits alone to prepare himself
For the battle yet ahead.
He will fight it not with wealth,
Nor with bullets forged of lead.

He knows the enemy all too well.
And knows they come well armed.
They do not care how many fell
Or how many they have harmed.

He knows they will have funds so deep
He cannot comprehend
That’s why this warrior rarely sleeps
Hoping for strength until the end.

His cause is true, his purpose just,
Though painted just with greed
It is for justice that he lusts
To plant a righteous seed.

Inside the minds of twelve unknown
Who decide his new friend’s fate.
And hopefully, power dethrone
And Right to defeat hate.

So as he tries to pen the words
To open up each juror’s heart,
He turns his own mind now inwards
To find where he should start.

He’s been painted greedy - true,
But he knows the hidden facts:
Corporations lie to you
To hide their evil acts.

Tomorrow he will yet ascend
The towering Courthouse steps
Until he stands before the bench again,
Heart pounding in his chest.

The war is coming to a close,
The final battle now at hand.
He looks into the eyes of those
Who for justice must now stand.

He prays his words will carry strong
The message he’s known all along:
The truth he’s told with all his might.
His cause was just – his purpose right.
